To make preparing your end-of-year accounts as easy as possible, we’ve moved to a secure online questionnaire. If you haven't used our new digital system before, here’s everything you need to know about how it works and what to expect.
Why are you introducing an electronic questionnaire?
To streamline the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns, we are moving to a structured information collection process. The questionnaire ensures we receive all the necessary information and documents at the beginning of the job, which aims to reduces delays, improves accuracy, and minimises the need for follow-up phone calls and emails.
How will I receive the questionnaire?
You will receive an email with a secure link to your personalised online questionnaire. The questionnaire can be completed on any computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Is the questionnaire the same for every client?
No. Whilst the questionnaire contains some standard questions, our team will review your records before sending it to you and tailor it to your circumstances. We will complete some of the questions on our behalf (to be confirmed by you upon review) and, where necessary, additional questions may be included relating to your business or accounting records.
What kind of information will I need to provide?
The questionnaire will ask for the information and documents required to prepare your financial statements and income tax returns. This may include items that you are familiar with providing such as:
• bank statements or loan balances
• details of asset purchases or disposals
• livestock numbers (for farming clients)
• rental property information
• confirmation of certain transactions within your accounting records
The exact questions will vary depending on your situation.
Can I upload documents through the questionnaire?
Yes. The questionnaire will allow you to securely upload supporting documents directly as part of the process.
What happens after I submit the questionnaire?
Once the questionnaire and supporting documents are submitted, our team will review the information provided and commence preparation of your accounts.
If any of the information is incomplete or requires further clarification, a member of our team will call you directly to clarify the details prior to commencing the work.
What if I don’t have all the information when I receive the questionnaire?
You can complete the questionnaire once you have gathered the necessary information. Our team will begin work only once the questionnaire and supporting documents have been submitted and reviewed for completeness.
What if I’m unsure how to answer a question?
If you are unsure about any question, please contact the accountant responsible for completing your annual accounts and income tax returns and they will be happy to assist
Will I have to complete a questionnaire every year?
Yes, a questionnaire will be sent each year as part of our year-end process. This questionnaire is updated annually to reflect your current circumstances and to collect any information required for that specific year.
To streamline the process, we aim to pre-fill the questionnaire with information we already have on file. For you, this means that much of the process will involve reviewing and confirming the details provided, rather than entering all the information from scratch. Only information that changes from year to year will need to be updated or added.
